Michelin star Chef Akmal has over two decades of culinary experience. He started his culinary journey at an early age in Singapore helping his parent’s hawker stall, where he found his inspiration to become a Chef.

In 2014, Chef Akmal moved from Singapore to Dubai, and has achieved tremendous success since. In 2019, he set up White Rice Consultancy, offering food and beverage consultation, concept creation, brand management, and established successful joint venture projects in the UAE and in Singapore.

Amongst the ventures taken, Chef Akmal collaborated with Sunset Hospitality Group in 2021, a leading hospitality and management company in Dubai, to open Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori. The award-winning concept introduces authentic Japanese flavors to Dubai through innovative recipes prepared with the freshest seasonal ingredients. He is also the chef-owner of one-MICHELIN-starred restaurant 11 Woodfire.
